TARLAC CITY (PIA) — Motorists and communities in Tarlac and across Central Luzon will soon benefit from the expansion of the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) Luisita Interchange, with the addition of new northbound entry and southbound exit ramps.
BCDA President and Chief Executive Officer Joshua Bingcang emphasized that the upgrade is part of efforts to form an interconnected ecosystem within the Luzon Economic Corridor that will support business growth, bring communities closer, and contribute to national development.
With the expansion, motorists coming from MacArthur Highway will have direct access to SCTEX when traveling north, while motorists traveling from Northern Luzon will be able to exit directly at Luisita when heading south.
Tarlac Governor Christian Tell Yap highlighted the project’s potential to facilitate the movement of people and goods, which could further support economic activities in the province.
“Malaking ginhawa ito sa ating mga biyahero at malaking tulong sa pagpapabilis ng daloy ng kalakalan sa ating lalawigan (This will provide greater convenience to travelers and help facilitate the faster movement of goods and trade in the province),” he said.
Meanwhile, Tarlac City Mayor Susan Yap, emphasized the project’s role in improving the city’s accessibility and strengthening its connections with neighboring communities.
“Mas magiging madali rin ang pagpunta ng mga tao at negosyo sa ating lungsod, na magbubukas ng mas maraming opportunities para sa ating mga kababayan (It will also make it easier for people and businesses to access our city, opening up more opportunities for our fellow Tarlaqueños),” she added.
The improved connections are expected to make travel more convenient for people moving between communities while strengthening access to jobs, businesses, services, and other economic opportunities.
The project supports the agenda of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to strengthen infrastructure and connectivity as drivers of inclusive economic growth, helping connect communities and expand access to opportunities. (By Ara Jamica R. Reparejo)
