GUIGUINTO, Bulacan — The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), Department of Public Works and Highways, NLEX Corporation and the Municipality of Guiguinto signed a memorandum of agreement for the proposed 1.8-kilometer Tabe Service Road and Full Integration with Balagtas Interchange held at Guiguinto Municipal Athletic and Cultural Center.
Mayor Agatha A. Cruz said in an interview with local media on Tuesday (June 6), this agreement, which is already three years in the making, is initiated by his father, then a local chief executive of Guiguinto and now a representative of 5th District Bulacan Cong. Ambrosio C. Cruz, Jr.
“From the former Barangay Tabe Exit, a two-lane road will be constructed to the southbound ramp of Balagtas Interchange of NLEX. The initial cost of the project is P200 million, which will be funded by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH),” Mayor Cruz said.
She added the construction of the service road and its connection with Balagtas Exit intends to provide an alternative route to various developments within a kilometer radius of the old Tabe Exit including government facilities, industrial estates, residential subdivisions, and future and existing socialized housing facilities.
“The proposed service road is proven to benefit these target catchment areas and facilities, and shall decrease the travel distance by 70 to 80% compared to existing Tabang and Balagtas Toll Plaza, and shall cater to the projected traffic generations based on the study initiated by the Manila North Tollways Corporation,” the lady mayor added.
The MOA signing was led by TRB Executive Director Alvin Carullo, and DPWH Region 3 Director Roseller Tolentino represented by Assistant Regional Director Mel Sto. Domingo, NLEX President and General Manager J. Luigi Bautista, Congressman Boy Cruz, and his daughter Mayor Cruz.
This infrastructure project is one of the priorities of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. under the Build-Better-More program. (UnliNews Online)
