CITY OF MALOLOS — Ma. Gladys Cruz-Sta. Rita of Marilao, Bulacan was hailed as Natatanging Babae in the Province of Bulacan in the recently concluded Gawad Medalyang Ginto 2023 held Monday (March 13) at The Capitol Gymnasium in this city.
Sta. Rita was the former President and CEO of National Power Corporation (NAPOCOR 2013-2017) and served the Provincial Government of Bulacan as Provincial Administrator for 17 years ( 1991- 2008). She is also the author of a UP Centennial book RUNNING A BUREAUCRACY published by the University of the Philippines NCPAG in 2008. She is also a Trustee of the Galing Pook Awards Foundation Inc.
She is currently the president of Tahanang Mapagpala ng Immaculada Concepcion Foundation Inc, an orphanage for abandoned elderly women, and also President of the Dangal ng Bulacan Foundation Inc.
This award was conferred by the Panlalawigang Komisyon sa Kababaihan ng Bulacan ( PKKB) on the occasion of Panlalawigang Buwan ng Kababaihan.
Gawad Medalyang Ginto is given to Bulakenyas who have invaluable contributions to the province and served as inspiration and movers of programs that will uplift the well-being and welfare of women.
The Soroptimist International of Plaridel was awarded the Natatanging Samahang Pangkababaihan and KPK Norzagaray as ” Matagumpay na KPK.”
Other sectoral category winners were Mariel Lyn Biason from the town of Norzagaray as ‘Matagumpay na Babaeng Mangangalakal’, Esterlita San Miguel of Marilao as ‘Matagumpay na Babaeng Makakalikasanl’ and Mary Jane Delos Isla as ‘Huwarang Babae sa Makabaging Pagnenegosyo’.
The Panlalawigang Komisyon para sa Kababaihan sa Bulacan (PKKB) led the awarding of trophies and medals for all the winners.
Women’s Month and Gawad Medalyang Ginto in Bulacan were started in 1996 through Executive Order No. 96-07 and Board Resolution No. 215 and have already awarded about a hundred Bulakenyas. (Unlinews Online)
