BUFFEX 2023, vibrant celebration of culture, cuisine and entrepreneurship

CITY OF MALOLOS — The 11th annual Bulacan Food Fair and Exposition (BUFFEX) kicked off its grand launch and opening ceremonies on Monday (Sept. 4) at the Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center.

In a vibrant celebration of culture, cuisine, and entrepreneurship, BUFFEX, a collaborative effort between the BCCI and various government and private sector stakeholders, aims to not only showcase the gastronomic wonders of Bulacan but also those of Central Luzon.

Mary Grace Sta. Ana-Reyes, DTI Bulacan information officer said BUFFEX serves as a platform for local food entrepreneurs and enthusiasts to exhibit their creations while fostering economic growth in the province.

“The event showcased various local delicacies and food products from different towns and cities in Bulacan. Visitors were able to taste and purchase a wide array of dishes, from traditional rice cakes to modern fusion cuisine,” Reyes added.

Distinguished guests graced the occasion, including Blesila A. Lantayona, Undersecretary of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Gregoria G. Simbulan, Area Vice President of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) for North Luzon, Edna D. Dizon, DTI Region 3 OIC-Assistant Regional Director and Concurrent Provincial Director, and Cristina C. Tuzon, President of the Bulacan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), along with the esteemed members of the BCCI Board of Trustees.

Reyes added that over the course of the week-long event, visitors can look forward to engaging activities, including cooking demonstrations, informative lectures, DTI Day, and captivating contests.

“One of the highlights will be the prestigious awarding ceremony honoring Outstanding Bulakenyo Food Entrepreneurs and Enthusiasts who have made significant contributions to the culinary landscape,” Reyes said.

The event is set to run from September 4 to 8, 2023, with doors open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. The venue, the Pavilion at Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center, is expected to be a bustling hub of flavors, culture, and creativity throughout the week.

BUFFEX 2023 promises to be a feast for the senses, celebrating the essence of Bulacan’s rich food heritage and the spirit of entrepreneurship that drives the region forward. Don’t miss your chance to savor the tastes and experiences that make Bulacan and Central Luzon culinary gems.

“Overall, BUFFEX was not just a celebration of Bulacan’s rich culinary heritage but also a platform for innovation and inspiration in the food industry. It brought together food lovers, entrepreneurs, and enthusiasts in one deliciously satisfying event that truly embodied the spirit of Filipino hospitality and creativity,” Reyes remarked.
