HERMOSA, Bataan — A new road interchange will soon rise to connect the municipality of Hermosa in Bataan to the 94-kilometer Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), supporting the expansion of Central Luzon’s logistics and manufacturing corridor.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), NLEX Corporation, and the local government of Hermosa are jointly collaborating on the project.
The proposed interchange forms part of a long-term development strategy to enhance regional connectivity along SCTEX.
BCDA President and Chief Executive Officer Joshua Bingcang explained that the project would provide much-needed support for the region’s growing logistics and manufacturing sectors and generate more jobs for Filipinos.
“More than just an infrastructure, this interchange will unlock a new gateway to economic opportunities for Central Luzon. In support of the Luzon Economic Corridor initiative, the enhancement of SCTEX will drive industrial growth and strengthen the region’s role as a key engine of national progress,” he added.
The interchange will create a critical link between Bataan’s emerging economic zones and industrial estates and other growth corridors in Central Luzon, such as the Clark Freeport Zone, New Clark City, and the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.
It will also improve access to the BCDA-administered Bataan Technology Park in Morong, the future home of the Philippine Marine Corps.
The initiative aligns with the Marcos administration’s ambitious “Build Better More” infrastructure drive and forms part of the SCTEX Expansion and Enhancement Plan jointly implemented by the DPWH, BCDA, NLEX Corporation, and concerned local government units.
The development will also contribute to the government’s efforts to support connectivity along the Luzon Economic Corridor, which will help position the region as a strategic manufacturing and electronics hub.
