P802 million worth of suspected shabu seized in Bataan

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Central Luzon police scored a major victory in the campaign against illegal drugs with the seizure of six sacks of suspected shabu containing 118 packs, weighing approximately 118 kilograms, and valued at about P802,400,000.00 along the shoreline of Brgy. Sisiman, Mariveles, Bataan on Thursday (Aug. 14).

In a statement, PRO-3 said the operation stemmed from a tip provided by a concerned citizen. Acting swiftly, personnel from the Mariveles Municipal Police Station, Bataan Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Unit, Bataan Provincial Intelligence Unit, Regional Intelligence Division 3, and Bataan Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency immediately proceeded to the site.

An inventory of the confiscated items was conducted at the scene in the presence of media representatives, barangay officials, and a Department of Justice representative.

The recovered items were turned over to P/Lt. Col. Amilyn Maclid of the Bataan Forensic Unit for laboratory examination and proper disposition.

Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio I Pañenos Jr., Regional Director of PRO3, lauded the swift action of the operating units and the cooperation of the public.

“This significant recovery is a testament to what can be achieved when the community and law enforcement work hand-in-hand. We commend the concerned citizen who came forward and our operating units for their swift and coordinated action. Every kilo of drugs we take off the streets is a step closer to safeguarding our communities and securing a better future for our nation,” Pañenos said. (UnliNews Online)
