PRO3 RD awards Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting; extends assistance to wounded police officer

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Police Brigadier General Ponce Rogelio I. Peñones Jr., Regional Director of Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3), personally visited Police Staff Sergeant Jake Jacinto of the Bongabon Municipal Police Station and extended financial assistance following injuries he sustained during an armed encounter with robbery suspects after a dragnet operation on Tuesday, (Feb. 17).

PSSg Jacinto was among the responding personnel who participated in the dragnet operation launched after a robbery incident, which resulted in an armed encounter with fleeing suspects. The officer sustained injuries while performing his duty to ensure the safety of the community.

In recognition of his courage and dedication to duty, PSSg Jacinto was awarded the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting, one of the Philippine National Police’s honors bestowed upon personnel who demonstrate acts of bravery in the performance of official duties.

Aside from financial assistance personally extended by the Regional Director, additional financial support was also provided by the Public Safety Mutual Benefit Fund, Inc. (PSMBFI) to assist in the officer’s recovery.

PBGEN Peñones Jr commended the wounded officer for his bravery and emphasized that caring for police personnel remains a priority under the leadership direction of the Chief, PNP PGEN Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr.

The activity highlights the PNP’s continuing focus on morale and welfare, ensuring that personnel who risk their lives in the line of duty receive proper recognition, assistance, and institutional support.

PRO3 reiterated its commitment to intensify police operations against criminality while safeguarding the welfare and well-being of its personnel. (UnliNews Online)
