Watchlisted cop falls in drug operation in Pampanga

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — A police officer included in the drug watchlist was arrested during a buy-bust operation conducted by Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga on Tuesday (May 12), further strengthening the organization’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs and internal cleansing.

The suspect, a 28-year-old patrolman, was apprehended at around 11:49 a.m. in Purok 5, Brgy. San Jose, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

The anti-illegal drug operation was jointly carried out by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of Pampanga Police Provincial Office as lead unit, together with the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) and City of San Fernando Police Station, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 3.

Authorities confiscated around 105 grams of suspected shabu with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of P714,000. The suspect was informed of his constitutional rights and was subsequently brought to the PDEU Office, along with the confiscated pieces of evidence, for proper documentation and disposition. Appropriate charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are now being prepared for filing before the competent court.

PRO3 Director P/Brig. Gen. Jess B. Mendez stressed that the successful operation highlights the organization’s unwavering commitment to internal cleansing and accountability within the police ranks.

“The arrest of a police officer who was already included in the drug watchlist sends a clear message that no one is above the law. Regardless of rank or position, those who violate the law will face the consequences of their actions. In line with the Focused Agenda of our Chief, PNP, P/Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., PRO3 will continue to strengthen internal discipline, intensify anti-illegal drug operations, and uphold the integrity of the organization,” PBGEN Mendez said.

He further assured the public that PRO3 will remain relentless in pursuing both criminal and administrative cases against erring personnel as part of its continuing effort to preserve professionalism, accountability, and public trust within the Philippine National Police. (UnliNews Online)
