OBANDO, Bulacan — The Department of Health -Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital (DOH-JBLMGH) has put up an emergency tent hospital at the Obando National High School evacuation center on Wednesday (April 22).
Obando Mayor Leonardo Valeda has confirmed the establishment of the said facility that will provide medical treatment to the growing number of patients suffering aggravated medical conditions from inhaling smoke emanating from the burning abandoned Navotas Sanitary Landfill.
Dr. Monserrat Chichioco, medical chief of DOH-JBLMGH, personally supervises the establishment of the emergency tent hospital at the Obando National High School evacuation center.
Chichioco said a medical team from their hospital will manage the emergency tent hospital operations.
Recently an evacuee died from suspected complications from the victim’s medical condition that was aggravated by smoke inhalation coming from the burning landfill while many other evacuees are also complaining about the health complications they are experiences from the smoke inhalations.
As of 9 a.m Tuesday, the Obando evacuation center has a total of 150 families or 431 evacuees coming from the coastal villages of Salambao and Binuangan.
As these developed, the Environmental Management Bureau’s continuous ambient air quality monitoring station in the City of Meycauayan in Bulacan had monitored as of 9 a.m. yesterday the PM 2.5 air quality at 50.2 ug/Ncm that is categorized as very unhealthy in the five kilometer radius of Obando, Meycauayan, Marilao and Valenzuela City.
EMB uses six point index for PM 2.5 that categorizes 0 – 25 ug/Ncm level as good; 25.1 – 35 ug/Ncm fair; 35.1 – 45 ug/Ncm unhealthy for sensitive groups; 45.1 – 55 ug/Ncm very unhealthy; 55.1 – 90 ug/Ncm acutely unhealthy and above 91 ug/Ncm is categorized as emergency. (UnliNews Online)
