GUIGUINTO, Bulacan — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Central Luzon sustained its reforestation and watershed rehabilitation efforts in the provinces of Bulacan and Tarlac.
Two of its field offices receiving recognition during the Annual Million Trees Challenge (AMTC) Recognition and Commitment Ceremony of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) Corporate Office and the Million Trees Foundation, Inc. (MTFI).
The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Tarlac received the “Kampeon ng Kalikasan” award after contributing more than 50,000 tree seedlings and saplings to support tree-growing activities in priority forest areas and key watershed ecosystems.
Meanwhile, the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Guiguinto in Bulacan received the “Kampeon ng Tubig Kanlungan” award after planting 173,639 seedlings covering 549.9 hectares through reforestation activities in Norzagaray and the City of San Jose del Monte.
Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo said these efforts resulted in the recognition of PENRO Tarlac and CENRO Guiguinto during the MTFI Recognition and Commitment Ceremony for their contributions to the implementation of the Annual Million Trees Challenge (AMTC) in 2025.
“The recognition reflects the sustained efforts of DENR Central Luzon and its field offices to restore degraded forestlands, rehabilitate watersheds, and strengthen partnerships for environmental conservation,” Pablo ended.
The AMTC is an initiative of the Million Trees Foundation, Inc. that encourages government agencies, local government units, private organizations, academic institutions, and communities to undertake sustained tree-growing activities in support of forest restoration and watershed rehabilitation.
