37 loose firearms confiscated in Bulacan within 15 days

CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — A total of 37 loose firearms were either recovered or voluntarily surrendered in the province of Bulacan from May 1 to May 15, 2026, as part of the province-wide campaign against unlicensed firearms.

Nineteen loose firearms were confiscated during police operations, while eighteen firearms were voluntarily surrendered by residents to local police authorities.

The accomplishments were the result of continuous community engagement, house visitations, and sustained police visibility in identified areas of concern. Some firearms were recovered during police operations, while others were surrendered by residents who responded to intensified information drives and dialogue with local police units.

The Bulacan PPO noted that the campaign aims to prevent the possible use of loose firearms in criminal activities and ensure that all firearms in the province are properly licensed and accounted for.

P/Col. Jay B. Baybayan, Officer-in-Charge of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office, said the steady increase in voluntary surrenders shows growing public trust and cooperation in the campaign.

He added that the Bulacan PPO continues its efforts under his leadership, with the guidance of PRO 3 Regional Director PBrig. Gen. Jess P. Mendez and in line with the PNP Focused Agenda of CPNP, PGen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. (UnliNews Online)
