CITY OF MALOLOS — Gov. Daniel R. Fernando and Malolos City Mayor Christian D. Natividad led the strengthening of school security in Malolos City following the shooting incident in a national high school in Tacloban City where three students were killed and several were injured.
Bulacan Gov. Daniel R. Fernando said in an interview on Thursday that he has urged parents to monitor their children’s use of social media, especially the use of scandalous and murderous applications.
“Social media should be used properly and responsibly, and that children should be constantly reminded to focus on their studies and avoid violence,” Fernando said.

The governor also requested that guards should restrict the entry of students and the teachers should closely monitor their students.
Gov. Fenando also added that he has assigned acting Provincial Director P/Col. Jay B. Baybayan to implement police visibility in all schools in the province of Bulacan, especially in large national high schools.
P/Col. Baybayan also confirmed that they will deploy two police officers in and around MHDPSHS and other institution within Bulacan. This is to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and staff, especially during school hours.
For his part, Mayor Natividad ordered the distribution of metal detectors today in all public elementary and high schools in the city to prevent a tragedy or incident like the one that happened in Tacloban.
The city immediately purchased 120 metal detectors worth a total of P200,000 to be distributed to 54 public schools in the city. MHDPNHS was one of the first to receive and was given six units and the largest student population in the Malolos Division, to enhance security within the campus.
“This step is to ensure that the tragedy that happened in Tacloban will not happen again in Malolos. We want to reassure every parent that their children are safe while in school,” Natividad said.
Meanwhile, according to Dr. Nova B. Santiago, Principal IV of MHDPNHS, the metal detectors are a great help in maintaining order and safety of the school’s more than 13,000 students.
“We thank the LGU Malolos for the prompt response. The security of every child and teacher within the campus is our priority,” said Dr. Santiago. (UnliNews Online)
