CITY OF MALOLOS — In providing quality education to Bulakenyo youth, the Provincial Government of Bulacan stays firm to its commitment as 600 High School and College scholars from across the province received scholarship grants during the “Tulong Pang-Edukasyon para sa Bulakenyo” General Assembly in partnership with the Landbank of the Philippines o Thursday (June 25) at The Pavillion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city.
College scholars enrolled in private schools received P3,500 each, while scholars from public state universities and colleges were given P3,000, the same amount that private and public senior high school students have received. The financial assistance was credited directly to the beneficiaries’ Landbank accounts.
One of the recipients, Erwin Paradero, Jr. from Fernandez College of Arts and Technology, expressed his gratitude for the program, saying that the scholarship has continuously supported him throughout his college journey and is a huge help to ease his academic expenses, such as tuition fees.
“Bilang estudyante po talaga, itong scholarship po na ibinibigay sa amin ay napakalaking halaga para sa akin. Buong college life ko, simula first year pa lang, at ngayong fourth year na ako, talagang malaking tulong ito sa akin, tulad ng pambayad sa tuition fees,” he said.
Aside from the distribution of financial assistance, the program also featured financial literacy talks led by Landbank representatives, encouraging students to practice responsible saving habits, prioritize essential expenses over wants, establish emergency funds, and maximize the benefits of the Perang Inimpok Savings Option (PISO) account.
The assembly also featured discussions on gender sensitivity awareness, mental health, and stress management led by Kaila Joie Rodaje of the Health Promotion Unit of the Provincial Health Office – Public Health and Gladylyn S. Burgos of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.
Meanwhile, Governor Daniel R. Fernando emphasized in his message to the scholars that the financial assistance came from taxpayers’ contributions and is only being returned to the people through programs that support students and help them pursue their education. (UnliNews Online)
