TARLAC CITY (PIA) — A total of 318 jeepney drivers in Tarlac were covered by the first implementation of the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Tuloy Pasada Program in the province.
Under the TUPAD Tuloy Pasada Program, local jeepney drivers were provided with an additional income of P9,000 each in exchange for rendering transport services for 15 days from July 16 to August 20, 2026.
DOLE Tarlac Officer-in-Charge Jayson Ocampo shared that the initiative forms part of the agency’s efforts to support both transport workers and the commuting public amid economic challenges.
“The rollout of TUPAD Tuloy Pasada in Tarlac is a vital milestone in our proactive efforts to support our local drivers during tough economic times, protecting the livelihoods of transport workers while ensuring uninterrupted public transit for the entire province,” he said.
Jeepney drivers covered by the program are those operating along key routes in Tarlac City, including Burot Arko to Common Terminal, Macabulos-Matatalaib-Maliwalo, and Old Petron Balingcanaway to Common Terminal.
In line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s efforts to provide assistance to workers and strengthen the transport sector, the program supports drivers’ livelihoods while ensuring continuous public transportation services for commuters. (Ara Jamica R. Reparejo)
