CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Four high-value individuals (HVIs) were arrested and more than P1.9 million worth of suspected illegal drugs and cannabis-related products were seized in two separate buy-bust operations conducted by the Cabanatuan City Police Station in Nueva Ecija on Saturday (August 8 and 9).
The first operation was conducted at around 5:18 p.m. on August 8 in Brgy. Sumacab Norte, Cabanatuan City, where two HVIs were arrested after allegedly selling suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer.
The operation resulted in the recovery of approximately 58.86 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of P400,248.00.
Hours later, at around 4:08 AM on August 9, another buy-bust operation was conducted in Brgy. Lagare, Cabanatuan City, resulting in the arrest of two more HVIs.
Police recovered various quantities of suspected marijuana and kush, along with assorted disposable vapes and cartridges containing suspected cannabis resin. The confiscated marijuana and related items had an estimated value of P1,508,800.00.
PRO3 Director P/Brig. Gen. Jess B. Mendez commended the operating personnel for the successive operations, noting that law enforcement efforts continue even as police personnel across the region are actively engaged in disaster response operations amid the effects of Typhoon Maymay and the Southwest Monsoon.
“Even as our personnel continue to assist communities affected by the typhoon, our responsibility to maintain peace and order does not stop. Our units remain focused on their respective duties, including the campaign against illegal drugs, while ensuring that sufficient personnel and resources are available for our disaster response operations,” Mendez said.
He added that the operations are in line with the Focused Agenda of Chief, PNP, P/Gen. Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr., particularly in sustaining intelligence-driven and responsive police operations.
“This reflects the readiness of PRO3 to respond to different situations simultaneously. Whether in times of calamity or in our continuing law enforcement operations, our commitment remains the same—to protect our communities and provide Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman to the people of Central Luzon,” Mendez added.
The four arrested individuals and the confiscated evidence were brought to the Cabanatuan City Police Station for proper disposition. Appropriate charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared for filing. (UnliNews Online)
