CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Police units across Central Luzon continue to conduct disaster response and humanitarian assistance operations as Typhoon Maymay and the Southwest Monsoon bring heavy rains and flooding to several parts of the region.
PRO3 Director P/Brig. Gen. Jess B. Mendez directed all commanders to sustain ongoing disaster response operations and strictly observe the PNP Critical Incident Management Operational Procedures (CIMOP). He also instructed field commanders to closely monitor affected communities and ensure the timely deployment of personnel and resources to areas requiring assistance.
Provincial and city directors have likewise been providing Gen. Mendez with updates on the situation in their respective areas, including search and rescue operations, evacuation assistance, relief distribution, and other ongoing response efforts.
Based on consolidated reports from PRO3 units and the Office of Civil Defense Region 3, as of August 9, a total of 618 families or 2,039 individuals are temporarily staying in 46 evacuation centers across the region.
At least 132 barangays in Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Zambales are affected by flooding. Meanwhile, eight roads in Bulacan and one in Pampanga remain impassable, along with one bridge in Bulacan.
Gen. Mendez said PRO3 personnel will remain on the ground and continue working closely with local government units and other concerned agencies to assist affected communities.
“Our priority remains the safety of our people. I have directed all commanders to sustain our operations and ensure that our personnel and resources are available wherever assistance is needed. We will continue to support rescue, evacuation, relief, and other response efforts for as long as necessary,” Gen. Mendez said.
P/Brig. Gen. Mendez also reminded the public to remain alert, follow evacuation and safety advisories issued by authorities, avoid flooded and impassable areas, and immediately seek assistance when necessary.
“As long as there are communities that need our help, our personnel will remain on the ground, ready to respond and serve. This is how we make Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman felt by our people, especially when they need us most,” Gen. Mendez added. (UnliNews Online)
