PNP internal cleansing program yields 7 rogue cops in Central Luzon

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Seven erring personnel allegedly involved in an illegal arrest, arbitrary detention, and extortion of 12 individuals were apprehended by joint operatives of Luzon Field Unit, Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (LFU, IMEG) /Team 3, Angeles City Internal Affairs Service and City Intelligence Unit of Angeles City Police Office, Friday (June 2).

Citing reports that reached the office of Brig. Gen. Jose S. Hidalgo Jr. PRO3 regional director, operating units conducted a random inspection of the custodial facility at Police Station 2, Angeles CPO after receiving information that a certain person was unlawfully arrested and detained at said police station and at the same time some personnel of said station, reportedly demanded money from said individual.

During the conduct of the inspection, it was found that 12 others were currently detained without any cases filed against them.

Meanwhile, Hidalgo said that the police reaffirm their continuous commitment in support of the Internal Cleansing Program to cleanse the ranks and identify rogue PNP members whether they are active, retired, or dismissed from the service.

Arrested personnel were immediately relieved from their posts and were brought at Camp Crame, Quezon City. (UnliNews Online)
