CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan – The water level in Angat Dam in this province slightly rose due to the rains dumped by Typhoon Egay and the southwest monsoon, according to the report by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).
PDRRMO chief Ret. Col. Manuel Lukban said on Wednesday (July 26) that the water elevation of Angat Dam as of 8 a.m. was at 181.81 meters, which is 0.79 meters higher compared to Tuesday’s water level of 181.02 meters.
“The rains sent the water elevation of Angat Dam to 1.81 meters above its minimum operating level of 180 meters but still 30.19 meters below its normal high water level of 212 meters,” Lukban said in an interview.
He said that the water elevation at the Ipo and Bustos dams slightly decreased at 99.53 meters and 17.33 meters, respectively as against the previous day’s levels of 99.63 meters, and 17.36 meters, respectively.
The spilling level of Ipo Dam is at 101.00 meters while Bustos Dam is at 17.00 meters.
Lukban said that Bustos Dam has raised its Sluice Gates 1 and 2 to one meter high that released 26 cubic meters per second (cms) of water.
“This translates to a total of 52 cms release of excess water to the downstream river system of Bustos Dam,” he added.
Meanwhile, Governor and PDRRMO Chairman Daniel Fernando advised the Bulakenyos and the disaster risk reduction and management offices in the province to continuously monitor the weather condition.
In its 11 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is still in effect in Bulacan.
