Bulacan bags Provincial Excellence in Circular Economy Leadership Award

CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan, through the Bulacan Environment and Natural Resources Office, received the Provincial Excellence in Circular Economy Leadership Award for advancing environmental protection and ecological solid waste management practices during the Environmental Summit 2026 held at Royce Hotel and Casino, Clark, Pampanga recently.

BENRO, through the leadership of Governor Daniel R. Fernando and Atty. Julius Victor C. Degala, has earned a recognition from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau Central Luzon for their commendable efforts in supporting the implementation of Republic Act No. 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, and Republic Act No. 11898 or the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Act of 2022.

Fernando dedicated the award to all individuals, organizations, government employees, environmental advocates, and community volunteers tirelessly working to protect and preserve the environment, emphasizing that collective dedication and participation remain essential to advancing a clean, safe, and sustainable Bulacan.

“Tagumpay ito ng lahat ng Bulakenyo, mga lokal na pamahalaan, at mga katuwang natin sa pangangalaga ng kalikasan. Patuloy nating palalakasin ang ating mga programang pangkalikasan upang mabawasan ang basura at mapakinabangan ng mga susunod na henerasyon ang ating mga likas na yaman,” the governor said.

Degala, together with Arminda D. Carreon, Division Chief of the Waste Management and Pollution Control Division, and Eric Donnel P. Manio, Section Chief of the Waste Management Section, accepted the award on behalf of Fernando.

The recognition highlights how PGB actively advances the circular economy through grassroots community projects, local government units, and major corporate sustainability initiatives. Moving beyond basic trash disposal, the province is transforming waste into valuable resources, fostering innovation and environmental responsibility.

Through the strict implementation of waste diversions and collaborative efforts between LGUs and the Provincial Government, Bulacan ensures that sustainable practices are embedded at every level. (UnliNews Online)
