PGB, DA sign MOA for construction of animal quarantine facility in DRT

Distributes goats to 75 Bulacan farmers

CITY OF MALOLOS — The Provincial Government of Bulacan and the Department of Agriculture – Regional Office III (DA-RFO III) formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the construction of an Animal Quarantine Facility at Damascus Compound, Pulong Sampalok, Doña Remedios Trinidad during the Farmer’s Field School (FFS) on Goat Entrepreneurship Management Graduation and Ceremonial Animal Distribution held last Friday (July 3) at Commercial Building 1, Capitol Compound in this city.

The said facility, which can accommodate up to 200 animals, will support the implementation of the Integrated National Swine Protection Initiative for Recovery and Expansion (INSPIRE) Program aimed at strengthening animal health protection and improving livestock industry operations in the region.

Fernando together with DA-3 Regional Livestock Program Coordinator Gil David, Agricultural Program Coordinating Office representative Memito Luyun, and Provincial Veterinary Officer Dr. Voltaire Basinang signed the MOA.

Meanwhile, Basinang expressed his gratitude to the DA for the opportunity given to the province, noting that only the provinces of Bulacan, Pampanga, and Aurora currently have animal quarantine facilities in Central Luzon.

The activity also highlighted the graduation of participants from the Farmer’s Field School on Goat Entrepreneurship Management and the ceremonial distribution of goats to farmer-beneficiaries from different municipalities in the province wherein a total of 75 farmers received 125 goats composed of 115 female goats and 10 male goats as part of the PGB’s continuing livelihood and livestock development initiatives.

Fernando encouraged the beneficiaries to properly care for the animals and help expand livelihood opportunities for other farmers in the future.

“Sana maalagaan po natin nang maayos ang mga ito. Paramihin po natin para tayo naman ang makatulong sa iba,” Fernando said.

The Farmer’s Field School on Goat Entrepreneurship Management aims to equip farmers with practical knowledge and skills in goat production, animal health management, and entrepreneurship to help improve their livelihood and contribute to agricultural development in the province. (UnliNews Online)
