PBBM turns over 148 newly procured heavy equipment worth P782M to NIA

MEXICO, Pampanga – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the turnover of 148 newly procured heavy equipment to regional offices of the National Irrigation Administration in a ceremony here on Wednesday (August 7).

With a total cost of P782.132 million, the acquisition of new excavators, trailer trucks and dumpers fall under the second tranche of NIA’s three-year re-fleeting program that aims to achieve the agency’s goal of fast-tracking irrigation development in the country.

The heavy equipment will be utilized in the operation and maintenance of irrigation systems, particularly in canal desilting operations in preparation for the wet crop season.

Central Luzon received nine equipment including crawler excavators, tractor trucks, and dump trucks with a total cost of P46,059,142.86.

Joining the president during the turnover are House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales, Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda, Vice Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, and NIA administrator Eduardo Guillen.
