830 displaced Bulakenyo workers received financial assistance via TUPAD

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — It was a payday with a purpose as 830 disadvantaged and displaced workers received their financial assistance under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program spearheaded by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in collaboration with the Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PPESO) the other day at the Bulacan Sports Complex in Barangay Sta. Isabel here.

Each beneficiary walked away with P5,700—the fruit of 10 days of community-based labor. Beyond just a paycheck, the program bridges the gap between individual livelihood needs and the broader goal of community development.

PPESO Head Engr. Egbert R. Robles encouraged the workers to continue being “community champions” by maintaining cleanliness in their respective areas. He urged them to wear their TUPAD membership with pride, proving that when government funds are placed in the right hands, the results are both visible and worthwhile.

Ensuring the integrity of the program, DOLE TUPAD Coordinator Ella Marie Pahati reminded the beneficiaries that their wages are theirs alone—meaning zero unauthorized deductions or “fees.” She also oriented the members on the PhilHealth YAKAP Program, expanding the government’s safety net beyond just a one-time payout.

Governor Daniel R. Fernando hailed the event as a testament to the province’s resilience.

“This TUPAD payout is a clear manifestation of our commitment to stand with our workers, especially those who were displaced and most affected by difficult circumstances,” Governor Fernando said. “Through our strong partnership with DOLE, we are able to deliver timely assistance and meaningful opportunities for Bulakenyos to recover and move forward.”

The funding for this initiative came from a diverse pool of support. Of the 830 workers, 500 were assisted through the DOLE Calamity Fund, 230 were supported by funds from Senator Ronald ‘Bato’ Dela Rosa, and 100 benefited from the DOLE TUPAD Plus program.

The TUPAD program, implemented by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in partnership with local government units, aims to provide temporary employment, immediate financial relief, and meaningful community service, helping workers cope with economic displacement while contributing to public welfare.
