CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — As students across Central Luzon returned to school on the opening day of classes, today (June 8), PRO3 Regional Director P/Brig. Gen. Jess B. Mendez personally conducted an early morning inspection of selected schools to ensure that security measures were in place and that police personnel were ready to provide assistance.
During the visit, Gen. Mendez met with school heads and education officials to discuss security concerns, traffic management, and other preparations aimed at ensuring a safe and orderly return to school for learners, teachers, and parents.

The Regional Director also inspected the deployment of police personnel assigned to school safety operations and checked the establishment of Police Assistance Desks (PADs) in key areas. He took time to engage with officers on the ground and reminded them to remain visible, approachable, and responsive throughout the opening of classes.
The inspection is part of the Philippine National Police’s ongoing support for the Department of Education in maintaining a secure and conducive learning environment for students throughout the academic year.
“Seeing our personnel on the ground and speaking directly with school officials allowed us to verify that our security preparations are in place. We want every learner to feel safe as they return to school, every parent to have peace of mind, and every teacher to focus on providing quality education. The PNP remains committed to working closely with our communities to ensure a safe, orderly, and successful school year,” Mendez said.
The Regional Director underscored the importance of a strong police presence in schools, noting that visible and responsive policing helps reassure students, teachers, and parents while contributing to a safe and peaceful learning environment.
He also encouraged the public to remain vigilant and continue working closely with school authorities and the police, emphasizing that ensuring the safety of learners is a shared responsibility among all sectors of the community.
The activity reflects PRO3’s commitment to the PNP Focused Agenda of Chief, PNP, P/Gen. Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr., particularly in strengthening community partnerships and enhancing public safety through proactive and responsive police service.
With police personnel strategically deployed across the region, PRO3 remains committed to helping ensure that every learner begins the school year in a safe, secure, and conducive learning environment. (UnliNews Online)
